Meet Adsy

Adsy is one of those people who is a long time craft beer drinker who's turned it into a career. And now, he's trying something a little bit different...

With over 25 years experience in the hospitality industry, there's really no style of bar that he hasn't worked in and enjoyed. With the explosion of craft beer around the world and then here in Australia, he wanted a piece of the pie and went after it.

A home brewer with 6 years experience, 3 of them also working in a local home brew shop to fund his hobby, he went from kit and kilo, right through to all grain brewing and joined the Ipswich Brewers Union home brew club. He was successful with multiple awards in their inner competitions, and scored a 2nd place in the 2019 QABC competition with a Fruit Lambic, Honey, Beetroot & Fig Sour.

In early 2020 with COVID taking over the world, he dropped back his full time IT role to study brewing at TAFE in QLD. Halfway through his studies he started work at Helios Brewing Company where he learned even more under Charlie Hodgson. At Helios, Adsy and Charlie (Helios Head Brewer) would converse over beer, about beer, nearly every day. Adsy helped bring Cerberus and Perseus to life, with each winning a Bronze medal.

After 19 months he made the move to Parched Brewery for a short stint before landing at Catchment Brewing. Somewhere in there he started Aussie Beer Voyage with his mate Joel Thomas (co-founder/director of ABV). Adsy and Joel work well together with Adsy taking over the hosting duties and Joel not letting him touch the expensive equipment. Adsy is the main host of Aussie Beer Voyage videos, doing all of the interviewing on video, and occiasionally joined by Joel.

Adsy is also the host of two other podcasts run by ABV. One is called Pour It Out, a weekly news and interesting stories craft beer audio only podcast. Join Adsy as he chats with Joel, or Phil or Dan from Hiker, or anyone else who shows up with a story.

The second new podcast is called Brews Brothers Podcast. Hosted by Adsy, Max from Philter Brewing and James from Esker Brewing, this podcast is all about learning together. Between them they know a lot but want to learn more. Join in for the laughs, learning, occasional bit of technical knowledge and heaps of boasting over a beer or two.
